Private Universities licence to be withdrawn by FG

Any private Universities that violate laid down regulations and establishment acts will have their licence withdrawn, Federal Government threatens. 

During a two-day National Summit on private Universities, the Federal government made known their stands on violators of the establishment acts and regulations.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Sonny Echonu Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission, Abubakar Rasheed, Registrar Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede and Former Rivers State Governor and proprietor of one of the private universities, Peter Odili challenged the institutions on quality service delivery.

There are seventy private universities in Nigeria out of a total of 170 universities with south west toping with 36 privately owned institutions.
