The Imo state Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, visited Obowo Local Government Area today the 2nd of July following the incident, where a trigger happy officer shot a young man, by name Mr. Ikenna Ukachi.
The incident was said to has occurred when crisis ensued between some youths of Otoko and the police yesterday, which led to the death of a young man.
This however resulted to the burning of the Police Station, and police guns and ammunition and as well freedom was granted to detained inmate by the irate agitated youths.
The Governor visited the Divisional Police Headquarters in Obowo which set ablaze by the aggrieved youths and he also visited the home of the bereaved family in Umuebea, Umuoke Obowo.
The Governor during his visit consoled the family and gave an assurance that the trigger happy policeman will be brought to Justice.
He charged the commissioner of police in the state to fish out the cop, while urging them to ensure that all those who took laws into their hands be apprehended.
He assured the deceased family that the government will stand by them and support them at this trying period, he prayed that God grant the soul of Ikenna rest.
The Governor was accompanied by his deputy Hon. Engr Gerald Irona, the Imo state CP Ibrahim Ladodo, the Chairman council of Traditional Rulers Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri, the Special adviser Mr. Raymond Nkemidrim, among other government functionaries.
