With the high rate of bandits in Zamfara and the killing been recorded, the Nigerian Air Force have been accused of an air strike that killed civilians instead of bandit, but the Air Force has denied such allegations and termed it untrue.
Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, Air Force Spokesman, stated that Air force’s target selection processes are rigorous and methodical, to prevent strikes on wrong locations
Also, its targets are mostly located in Rugu, Sububu And Kajara forests, which are known as bandit hideouts.
Mr. Daramola said to avoid collateral damage, pilots never release their ammunition if non-combatants, especially women and children are present.
He described the allegation as deliberate misinformation, coming at a time the service is working tirelessly to end the violence in Zamfara.
The spokesman further called on anyone with evidence that innocent civilians were targeted to provide it.
